According to the Global Artificial Intelligence Industry Data Report published by CAICT, by March 2019, there had been 5,386 active AI enterprises around the globe, with the United States, China, UK, Canada, and India ranked top 5. A total of 41 AI unicorns exist around the world, among which 18 are located in the US, 17 in China, and 3 in Israel, Germany, and India respectively.
In terms of financing, since Q2 2018, the popularity of investments in the AI field around the globe has been decreasing. The scale of global financing in Q1 2019 was $12.6 billion, with a quarter-on-quarter decrease of 7.3% and a year-on-year change of the same. The number of financing events was 310, with a quarter-on-quarter growth of 29.7% and a year-on-year decrease of 44.11%. Chinese AI industry had a total financing value of $3 billion, with a year-on-year decrease of 55.8%.
In terms of academic essays, China was ranked the first in published papers, but the second in quoted papers, after the United States.
